REMINGTON PARK TRAINING RACES DRAW 153 OVER TWO DAYS, 20 RACES

Trainers gearing up new horses for their first pari-mutuel events have filled the overnights for training races. The initial pre-season schooling events will take place over two days.

There will be 10 schooling races conducted on both Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 15-16. The first event each day is set for 11am. All races are at 250 yards and offer horses new to the racing scene an opportunity to experience the procedure of a race date, mimicking the protocols they will go through for their first pari-mutuel race.

The training races are overseen by Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission stewards who determine the readiness of all horses for actual pari-mutuel competition. A total of 153 horses have entered the two days of training races, 76 Wednesday and 77 on Thursday. American Quarter Horses are featured in 15 of the events. Paints and Appaloosas will have five training races. All races, on both days, are for 2-year-olds.
