FORECASTED SEVERE WEATHER POSTPONES THURSDAY RACING AT REMINGTON PARK

Due to the forecast of inclement weather, with possible large hail, high winds and lightning, the 12 Heritage Place Futurity trials scheduled for tonight at Remington Park have been postponed.

The dozen trials make up an entire racing program which is now moved in its entirety to Monday, May 15 at 12:30pm-Central.

“All local meteorologists are forecasting severe weather this evening. In fairness to all horsemen who have invested thousands of dollars to have their horses compete in the Heritage Place Futurity trials, we have elected to postpone tonight’s program and move it to Monday afternoon,” said Matt Vance, executive vice president of racing operations at Remington Park.

“It is imperative that the conditions of the track along with the weather elements, be as consistent as possible when running trials to which the fastest qualifiers end up competing for the biggest share of $1 million. For this reason, track management, the horsemen of the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association and the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission have agreed it would be best to move the entirety of the card to Monday. This prevents any interruption a severe storm might create in the way of potential power outages or half the races being timed on a fast track and the other half dealing with the severe weather conditions.”

The Remington Park schedule for May 12-15 includes:

Friday, May 12, 6pm; 12 Heritage Place Futurity trials
Saturday, May 13, 6pm; 12 races with five trials for the Heritage Place Derby
Sunday, May 14, 4pm; 12 races with five trials for the Heritage Place Oaks
Monday, May 15, 12:30pm; 12 Heritage Place Futurity trials

All of the qualifiers for the Heritage Place stakes events will compete in the respective finals on June 3 at Remington Park.
